WARRI: A group under the aeges of the Itsekiris has issued a warning to the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company (WRPS) over alleged outright exclusion of Itsekiris from their recent employment exercise, of which they described as a slap on the face despite been host to the Company.
The Vice President and Chairman of the Labour/ Empowerment Committee of National Association of Itsekiri Graduates, Comr. Thomas Ejueyitchie Ekpoto gave the warning while speaking to newsmen in Warri on Wednesday.
He told The Union Nigeria that, “the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation(NNPC), has recently employed fifty(50) Graduates Personnel to resume work at one of its Subsidiary Company, Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company(WRPC), located at Ifie in Warri South L.G.A without any of its host Itsekiri Sons or Daughters on the employment list.
“NAIG will not tolerate this intentional act metted on the entire Itsekiri ethnic Nationality by the Company.
“I urge the Management of NNPC/WRPC to include Itsekiri Graduates in their employment exercise immediately. We would not hesitate to shut down their facilities if they fail to respond accordingly.
Comrade Thomas Ejueyitchie Ekpoto said that “A fourteen days ultimatum has been issued to the Company to include Itsekiri Graduates in their employment process or face a total shut down of their facility at Ifie and other facilities in Warri kingdom.”
