Anambra State government through the ministry of Agriculture says it has distributed 100 bags of high breed faro forty-four rice seeds to farmers in Achalla, Ugbenu, Awba Ofemili and Ugbene, all in Awka North Local Government Area.
The rice seeds distribution is in line with the dry season farming recently inaugurated by  Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano.
The distribution was done at both Central School Ugbenu and Local government headquarters Achalla respectively.
Addressing the farmers, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Nnamdi Onukwuba represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Agricultural Export assured them of continuous support to ensure food sufficiency in the State.
He harped on the need for them to effectively utilize the farm inputs as the state government is determined to stabilize the economy of the state through agriculture.
Mr Onukwuba who commended the State government for its proactive measures in curbing food insecurity in the state, expressed optimism that the prices of food items especially that of rice will normalize at the harvest of dry season farming.
Some of the beneficiaries including Mr Nweke, Mrs Gladys Okafor and Mrs Ogochukwu Onyeibor appreciated the state government for providing the farmers with the needed support.
They promised to do their best in assisting the state achieve its dream in agriculture which according to them will be to their benefit.
Recall that Anambra East and West Local Government Areas as well as Ogbaru Local Government Area have received their rice seeds last week.
